How Long Do Persian Cats Live?
A Persian is a long-term companion. So how long do they actually live — and what can you do to make those years as long and healthy as possible?
The typical Persian lifespan
Most Persians live 12 to 17 years, with many reaching the upper end and beyond. A well-bred, healthy Persian living indoors commonly enjoys 15+ years with its family.
What shortens a Persian’s life
The biggest factors are usually built in before you ever bring the cat home:
- Extreme flat-face structure — breathing and dental problems that wear on the body over time.
- Untested genetics — undiagnosed PKD or HCM can cut a life short.
- Poor diet and obesity.
- Neglected grooming, leading to skin and matting issues.
What helps them live longer
- Choose a doll-face structure for easier breathing and fewer health costs.
- Buy from a breeder who DNA-tests the parents.
- Keep your cat indoors, at a healthy weight, on quality food.
- Stay on top of grooming and annual vet visits.
Why our cats are built to last
We breed only healthy doll-face Persians from PKD- and HCM-tested parents — the structure and genetics that support a long, comfortable life. It’s the same reason we avoid extreme looks and “teacup” gimmicks.
